Similarity Search in Spatial Databases
Spatial databases contain multidimensional data with explicit knowledge about objects, their extent, and their position in space. These objects are usually represented in some vector-based format, and their relative positions may be explicit or implicit (i.e., derivable from the internal representation of their absolute positions).
This research field addresses the similarity search in this kind of databases.
- 3D Similarity Search in the Medicine
An important problem arising in many database applications is the efficient search of 3D-volume objects for objects similar to a given one. In this project, a new approach has been presented consisting of a new solution for the search of similar 3D objects based on a new geometric index structure. In the medicine, this project is being applied to the search of specific portions of the brain to determine deseases or the reasons for deseases. - Similarity Search System Project (S3 Project)
The reduction of the components diversity plays a decisive role in the cost sinking in the manufacturing industry. The objective of this project is the development and implementation of a prototype system for the geometry-oriented search of similar components. In particular, special procedures to support a quick geometrical query processing should be analyzed.
