Information Engineering

What does information engineering mean in terms of computer science?

Information Engineering focuses on the processes involved in the mining, selection and visualisation of data and information. Information Engineering describes the processes of applied computer science. Computer science in information engineering is an area that has developed from the theory of basic computer science to applied computer science with the Konstanz focus on data exploration and visualisation.

When put into practice in scientific and business fields, competence in this branch of computer science is in demand with regard to

  • data mining,
  • information systems engineering,
  • visual computing,
  • human computer interaction,
  • network analysis,
  • digital libraries and
  • information science.

These subareas of information engineering also represent study profiles.

You can study:

Information Engineering for a Bachelor or Master's degree
Computer science for the state teaching examination
Computer science as a subsidiary subject
Computer science as a major subject for a degree program in Mathematics
PhD study and PhD graduate program

  • Quality tested: Accredited by the ASIN, graduate program
  • Practice-oriented: Project cooperation with companies
  • Personal: Small groups, team projects, intensive exchange of knowledge with tutors, mentoring program
  • International: Courses in German and English, European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), multicultural exchange with students from 92 nations
  • Modern: The best infrastructure, for example a powerwall for the visualisation of enormous quantities of data
