How to reach Waldhaus Jakob, Konstanz

BY TRAIN:

Konstanz can easily be reached by train from Northern and Western Germany, from the regions of Frankfurt and Stuttgart and from Switzerland. The main station is called Konstanz Hbf.
There is a bus stop in front of the station. Bus no. 5 leaves every thirty minutes. Descend at bus stop "Bodensee-Stadion" (the drive takes about 10 minutes). A ticket costs DM 2.40 (EUR 1.23).
The price of a taxi from the station to the Waldhaus Jakob is about DM 12.00 (EUR 6.xx).



BY PLANE:

The nearest international airports are those in Zurich (Switzerland) and in Stuttgart. It is also possible to reach Konstanz via Frankfurt or Munich airport. From Frankfurt airport, there are daily Lufthansa flights to Friedrichshafen, a small local airport on the northern shore of the lake. From Munich, there is a regular plane to Friedrichshafen as well, but from Tuesday to Friday only.

Konstanz can easily be reached by train from Zurich. The railway station is located in the basement of the airport. A return ticket Zurich-Airport/Konstanz costs 43.00 SFR, a one way ticket 25.00 SFR.

From Stuttgart Airport you have to take the Underground (German: S-Bahn) to the main train station, Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, and then the train to Konstanz. You have to change once, the journey takes about two and a half hours.

Going by train to Konstanz from Frankfurt takes about four hours. To reach the main station you have to take the S-Bahn. There is a direct train from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof every two hours.

The journey from Munich to Konstanz takes at least four hours. You have to change at least once, usually twice or thrice.

From Friedrichshafen one needs to travel by bus to Meersburg/Fähre (ferry), and then cross the lake by ferry. At the Konstanz ferry station, you can reach Waldhaus Jakob by bus (no. 1, then change to no. 5).



BY CAR:

From Stuttgart:
Take the motorway A81, at intersection Hegaukreuz you continue on federal road (German: Bundesstraße) B33 to Konstanz. Instead of following the sign to Konstanz City at the first traffic light, continue straight on to Wollmatingen. Follow the Wollmatinger Strasse to Zaehringer Platz, turn to the left, then right. Follow signs to Schmieder Kliniken (hospital) and Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung. Pass the hospital down Eichhornstrasse (blue line on the town map).

From Zurich:
Take the motorway N7 to Kreuzlingen/Konstanz, where you cross the border to Germany. You drive around the city (left or right, both ways meet at the bridge). After crossing the bridge over the Rhine, follow the sign Mainau, then you turn off to the right following the signs Schmieder Kliniken and Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung (yellow line on the town map).
