Registering your master's thesis

When do I register my master's thesis?

Please speak to the Central Examination Office to register your master’s thesis as soon as you have discussed your topic with your supervisor and you are both confident that you can finish your thesis within six months. You should register your thesis before/at the beginning of your final semester.

Requirements for admission to the master's thesis

You can only be admitted to the master's thesis

  • if you have successfully completed the master's project and the corresponding seminar,
  • if you have written confirmation of the compulsory mentor meeting (the mentor meeting must be registered in StudIS),
  • if you have been enrolled at the University of Konstanz for at least one semester.

Which forms and signatures do I need?

Please fill in the forms carefully. The topic of your final thesis as stated in this form will be the title given on your final degree certificate. 

You need the signatures of your supervisors/referees and of the chair of the departmental examination board (Professor Marc Scholl). Please make an appointment with Barbara Lüthke (departmental office).

Where do I register my final thesis?

You have to register at the Central Examination Office during their office hours. Please submit your finished master's thesis to the Central Examination Office in due time.

 

Registering for the master's colloquium (final examination)

When do I register for my colloquium?

The colloquium is the final examination of your master's programme. Please register at the Central Examination Office two weeks ahead of the planned date of your colloquium (please note: you must register at least one week in advance).

Requirements for admission to the final colloquium

You can only be admitted to the colloquium on the master's thesis

  • if you have handed in the master's thesis and
  • if you have passed all required course-related academic performance assessments

and all coursework according to § 4 para. 1 of the study and examination regulations (see also the corresponding attachment) and documentation thereof has been entered into the examination administration system.

Which forms and signatures do I need?

Please note that the form "List of courses" has to be signed by the director of the departmental administration (Dr Martin Brunner). It helps us determine whether you have satisfied all requirements for your master’s degree.  This form also specifies which courses will be listed on your final degree certificate.

In addition to the signatures of your examiners and of the director of the departmental administration, you need the signature of the chair of the departmental examination board (Professor Marc Scholl). Please make an appointment with Barbara Lüthke (departmental office).
